From Galway, I graduated from University College Galway with a BSc. in Biochemistry. I then completed my postgraduate qualification in Dietetics and a Masters in Health Science from Leeds Metropolitan University.
I have a Diploma in Allergy from Southampton University. In 2015 I completed the INDI Abbott Management and Leadership certificate in the IMI, Dublin.
I set up my own consultancy www.paulamee.com in 2004 and provide an extensive range of services in nutrition, corporate wellness, marketing communications, recipe and menu analysis and product development. I have a comprehensive portfolio of clients from the food and pharmaceutical industry, educational establishments, catering & retail sector, the corporate industry & other groups of health professionals. I am also an active member of SEDI (a professional support & networking group for Self-Employed Freelance Consultant Dietitians in Ireland).
Prior to setting up my consultancy Paula Mee Nutrition, I was the Nutrition Manager for Superquinn and before that, Senior Nutritionist in the National Dairy Council.
I have a broad interest in food and the food chain and have sat on the Board of Consumer Foods in Bord Bia for six years. From 2013 to 2016 I was a member of the Food Safety Consultative Council of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), which is a constructive vehicle for consumers and industry to provide input to the agenda of the FSAI.
Currently I am mainly conducting virtual consultations with new clients and patients.
Existing clients and patients may request socially distanced face-2-facemeetings in order to carry out body composition analysis. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I am also happy to virtually talk to patient support groups and run workshops on the management of disease areas: heart health(blood pressure/cholesterol), diabetes type 2, IBS, weight management, mental health etc.
I have a particular interest in weight management and gastrointestinal disorders and have in 2013 received specialised training from Kings’s College London on the dietary management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) using the low FODMAP diet. We are committed to helping you make the necessary diet related changes to lead a healthier life.
There are many workshops / group topics a dietitian can run to support patients and weight management is only one. Other conditions can be managed through diet, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (the low FODMAP diet), Coeliac Disease and the full list can be seen below.
